Swiss,gilt-finished full-plate cylinder movement, musical pin barrel, quarter repeating on gongs activated through the pendant, slide in the band for activation of the music, gilt cuvette, white enamel dial, Breguet numerals, plain case with coin-edged band, case signed as follows: fait et invente par, hilaire bassereau, au palais royal c.1800. 2.2in (56mm). Total watch weight: 130.7g

Similar one sold at Christie's auction June 14th 2011. N.B. Descriptions are revised from a 1994 insurance appraisal by a noted N.Y.C. auction house Horologist.This watch appears to be made for the Palais Royal. At that time Louis XVIII was monarch and Palais Royal was one of his homes.
